Fishing Rods

One of the most important tools that a fisherman has is his rod. Rods are used in conjunction with reels and lines to catch fish. They come in many different weights and types so it is important to choose the type that will best suit the kind of fishing you are planning on doing. Different types of fishing rods include: fly rods, spin and bait casting rods, ice rods, sea rods, trolling rods, and telescopic rods.

Rods have been used for fishing for many years. There are inscriptions that date back to ancient Egypt, China, Greece Rome, and England that show the use of rods for catching fish. Before the invention of synthetic materials rods were made from materials that could be found in nature like bamboo, reeds, or wood. Now they are made from graphite, fiberglass, boron, or composites of these. They are made to be light weight and strong.

Fishing rod making has become a popular hobby among many anglers that seek to use their skills to create their own fishing tools. Rods, flies and even reels can be made by a skilled fisherman. Whether you choose to make your own rod or buy one you will want to make sure you use a quality product for the huge fish you will be catching with it.
