The Right Stuff For Spring Bass

With spring bass fishing well under way you better make sure you've got the right fishing tackle. Or you may come home with a broken fishing rod, or at least broken line. Not to mention your broken pride! I mean wouldn't you rather tell the story about the one that didn't get away.

Well you just need to make sure you've got the right fishing rod. And the right reel and line helps too. For starters your rod should have a stiff action. Like a heavy or medium heavy with a fast tip. So it is strong and still pretty sensitive. With the water warming up they'll be in the heavy cover. Either spawning or just chasing shad. And your going to have to get them out of there.

Alright now that you've got the right fishing rod your going to need the right reel. A good quality fishing reel that has a fast retrieve. Maybe as high as 6.5 to 1 or even 7 to 1. This will help you keep their heads up out of the water while your dragging them in. And you better have some heavy line. I like to use at least 20lbs test, but you might use 15lbs and still be alright. As long as it will pull through what ever your trying to pull a big old bass out of.

You need to make sure you've got a good quality heavy line. Something thats going to hold up to the abuse. You know when your dragging that monster out of the weeds, or lillie pads, or brush, or where ever you found him.

So I guess if you,ve got all the right tackle. And you know the right spot to fish. You can't help but have a good day on the lake. But then I've never really had a bad day on the lake. I guess it beats working no matter what kind of day it is. Good luck everybody.
